Kent ISD Our Story

Kent Intermediate School District is providing students with hands on renewable energy experience as well as reducing their electricity requirements. A total of three renewable energy systems are now installed across campus. New programs will start in the 11-12 school year to accompany the turbine and solar panels, including one on alternative energy and another on sustainability. The center's existing programs -- including automotive technology, aviation maintenance technology, construction and engineering -- will incorporate the data into their instruction, or place a focus on "green" practices. The turbine and solar awning are initial equipment for the new "green" classes next school year. They will train students for jobs and renewable energy careers.
Since monitoring began 10/12/2010, this system has generated 15446 kilowatt hours of clean energy.
